The Flaming Star Nebula (IC 405) glows about 1,500 light-years away, lit by the fast-moving star AE Aurigae. Nearby, the Tadpole Nebula (IC 410) lies much farther away, its dense clouds of gas shaped into tadpole-like tails by the stars of the cluster NGC 1893.
AE Aurigae is a runaway star, probably flung out of the Orion region a few million years ago, and its light makes the surrounding dust glow. The Tadpole Nebula lies roughly 12,000 light-years away, where the young cluster NGC 1893 sculpts the dense gas with its radiation.
