The Flaming Star Nebula (IC 405) is an emission and reflection nebula located about 1,500 light-years away in the constellation Auriga. It surrounds the bright variable star AE Aurigae, whose intense radiation ionizes the surrounding hydrogen gas, creating a reddish glow, while dark dust reflects its blue light. This cosmic cloud, shaped by stellar winds and motion, forms intricate, flame-like patterns, making it a stunning celestial structure where light and shadow intertwine beautifully.
